His Way Education was founded by Travis Koch. Travis came to know the Gospel through Young Life, and is grateful for the strong men who led him to the Lord. Travis graduated from the Air Force Academy and served as a U.S. Air Force fighter pilot for over 24 years, commanding the USAF’s F-22 Schoolhouse and the 3rd Operations Group in Anchorage, Alaska. After he retired and moved back to Houston with his wife and two sons, he felt called to serve the local community as a teacher and boys lacrosse coach for four years. During this time, one thing he noticed was the boys seemed to be struggling.
Boys are academically underperforming compared to their female counterparts in testing, class ranking, and college attendance. Boys also have higher rates of learning disability diagnosis, discipline issues, and school dropouts. They are struggling with social issues like screen and gaming addiction, low motivation, and a lack of positive role models. Mainstream media is bombarding them with messages of the diminished value of masculinity and shifting gender identities.
Our community is in need of a change. Our sons and grandsons need a tailored environment, designed with their unique learning styles, free from cultural distractions, and filled with men to model, teach, and mentor our boys toward Christ and virtuous manhood.

After studying the challenges boys face today, much discussion, and lots of prayer, His Way Education launched a 3rd through 8th all-boys Christian school in Houston. West Christian Prep teams with parents to build strong young men of wisdom, stature, and grace:
– Wisdom from knowledge and character development, not just information, but formation;
– Stature through physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual development;
– And grace through relationship with God and man (Luke 2:52).
West Christian Prep opened in August of 2025 with 3rd-6th grade classes, and will grow each year. To learn more on how you can help our mission, click here.
